Integrity.

Experience.

Diligence.

Albanian IP Matters is a boutique law firm that specializes in prosecution and litigation of the entire spectrum of intellectual property (IP) right, as well as in marketing law. We operate within the Albanian co-speaking region, which includes Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro  and North Macedonia. From our central office in Tirana, Albania, we coordinate all regional projects done at local level, ensuring you receive expert legal advice tailored to your local preference.

The firm was established in October 2018 by a group of professionals, and led by Irma Cami who has been lauded for her expertise within the IP field.  Having worked for a large regional and multinational IP firm over 10 years, shes enjoys a long-standing experience in the IP field. She has been constantly recognized by Chambers and Partners and WTR 1000 as a leading practitioner, describing her as a “diligent and dedicated professional… who takes the reins when contentious brand related matters arise.” Irma’s Bio

Another key figure at Albanian IP Matters is Gentjan Hasa who holds degrees in mechanical engineering from Pisa, Italy, and has over 20 years’ Italian and Albanian work experience in the engineering field. Gentjan focuses his practice on preparing patent applications and also supervises the prosecution division. Gentjan’s Bio

Our aim in establishing Albanian IP Matters is to assist you in exploiting your IPR within the revitalized region. Albania, Kosovo, Montenegro and North Macedonia have now embarked on a vigorous process of integrating into the European Union (EU), a process requiring these countries to ensure a level of IP protection equal to that of the EU.

Although the legal remedies are aligned with EU rules, the situation is not optimistic regarding enforcement. Contentious matters remain a challenge. At times the practice is in line with EU case law, but many unbending rulings remain. In our view, only sustained efforts by IP professionals will likely help align local practice and EU practice.

In reality, however, most of IP firms concentration heavily on filing work and routine administrative tasks, and IP knowledge of their staff is strictly limited to handling such tasks. Understandably, they comparatively lack experience and professional skills in IP enforcement and providing complex legal advice to foreign IP right holders.

The situation with professional fees is also polarized. High professional fees are not always associated with high quality IP services, not to mention they sometimes sound unreasonably high; on the other hand, seemingly convenient prices tend to render unreliable service.

Our goal is to make a difference. Equipped with broad expertise in the IP field, education in west and the proper understanding of the regional  business climate position us particularly well to accomplish this mission. We are determined to deliver the highest quality IP services at reasonable prices.

Our motto – One Way To Improve Things Is The Law – motivates us to strive to improve IP practice, challenging the norm.

We give your IP the value it deserves!
